In order to maintain good flow through your pool filtration system regular filter backwashing is necessary.
Backwashing should be performed at least monthly on a domestic pool and more often if the pool has heavy use.
Caution:
- Do Not operate the filter valve while the pool pump is running.
- Stay close to the power switch while keeping your body away from the filter.
- Keep a close watch on the filter pressure gauge.
(If filter pressure is high, shut down immediately)
Steps:
- Turn the pool pump power off.
- Fully depress and turn the filter valve to backwash
- Turn the pool pump power on for 1 to 3 minutes
(Usually the discharge water is visible through a site glass, backwash until clear) - Turn the pool pump power off
- Fully depress and turn the filter valve to rinse
- Turn the pool pump power on for 30 seconds
- Turn the pool pump power off.
- Fully depress and turn the filter valve to Filter
- Turn the pool pump power on for 30 seconds
- Turn the Filtration Power back to auto
